The Russian tourist entry visa
Entrance on the territory of the Russian Federation demands the entry visa valid for the period of stay in the country. Presence of the visa and passports is thoroughly checked by the passport control service at the arrival and departure from the country, at reception in hotels on the territory of the Russian Federation, in trains, planes and motor ships, both on home and international passenger lines. Visas are given out on the basis of the invitation (visa support from the Russian part) by the Russian consulates in the country of your stay.

THE DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR DRAWING UP THE VISA
To get the Russian entry visa you have to submit the following documents to the Russian Embassy or Consulate:
The Russian tourist visa:
- X-copy of filled pages of your valid passport (first, second and last names; date of birth; passport number and its date of expiry).
- The Russian visa form which has to be filled and signed.
- 3 recently made passport photos.
- Tourist groups and cruise tourists also need the letter from their tourist or cruise company confirming the exact route and including a copy of the confirmation from the authorized Russian travel agency with the reference and visa numbers.
For individual trip you need the confirmation of reservation at a hotel either from the authorized travel agency or directly from the hotel, including reference and visa numbers.
Please, note that since April, 15 1999 visa support for all tourist visas should be submitted on the new application form.
CONDITIONS OF DRAWING UP TOURIST INVITATIONS ARE HERE
The Russian business single, double and multi entry visa:
- X-copy of filled pages of your valid passport (first, second and last names; date of birth; passport number and its date of expiry).
- The visa form which has to be filled and signed.
- 3 recently made passport photos.
- If a period of stay in the country is more than three months and for the multi entry visa the AIDS test is required.
- The official invitation from the authorized organization for entering Russia with commercial purposes. The invitation to Russia ought to be drawn up by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or its regional department; the Ministry of the Interior or its local department; or other authorized Russian organizations. The letter should include: the official seal and legal address of the organization, the name and signature of the official who invites foreigners to Russia. The embassy reserves the right to demand the original of the invitation. (15/04/99.)
